1. You go out for breakfast with your family/friends/colleagues/the priest etc.

2. You hope that you don’t get to do any chores, and leave your parents to it (That is, if you’re still under their care or back for the holidays. I know I do).

3. You laze at your favorite lounging spot in the house. Be it the couch, bedroom, premier television seat etc.

4. You watch the world go by at your favorite hang out. Kopitiam, anyone?

5. You hope that the weekend will not cause any significant change in your weight as the weeks pass by.

6. You hope that as an amateur photographer, you get that elusive shot no one has ever taken before of the same place everyone routinely passes eg. the Tanjung Batu-Kidurong shortcut, Parkcity area, downtown Bintulu, Pasar Utama Bintulu.

7. You hope that, with Sunday mass over for the week, you will not accumulate any sins until the next mass (and sadly, you’ll fail one way or another. Sadly.)

8. You surf the Internet, check out your favorite website (deviantART), post the latest update at your social networking account (Facebook), and read things that have no concern whatsoever with your initial plans (Wikipedia).

9. You watch the latest happening (FIFA World Cup) and praise the good things (South Africa’s and Nigeria’s goalkeeper, Gabriel Heinze’s header goal for Argentina) and lament the bad things (Robert Green fumbled a save that cost England their first win, and instead made USA happy with a draw from Clint Dempsey, Lionel Messi with his plenty of chances couldn’t find the goal).

10. You hope that with tomorrow a new day, the whole world will be kind to you. ;)

Advancement in technology allows for many things nowadays. So true, that it dwarfs even the giants of connecting we know nowadays.

Take for example the radio. Since its conception, its users grow on a small but steady rate. This goes on for the television and so forth. But we’re watching something exponential here. Newer advancement in technology gets embraced faster than the old ones. In a sense, we are growing in-sync with technology. Gone are the days when we sit around the radio and television, and comes a new age of mobile connection in the form of computers (now laptops) and recently, mobile phones.

Companies based on this advancement are sprouting like mushroom after the rain. For example, ABC, FOX, and NBC have been around for a combined year of 100+, with an average user of 50 billion people wordwide yearly. YouTube, Facebook, and MySpace on the other hand, have been around for less than a decade total, and gained on average 100 billion user yearly! Impressive numbers, eh?

Mobility in technology helped this growth in some way. For example, telecommunication companies here in Malaysia have approved support for 3G , and just recently broadband license, for aiding people to stay connected. Like the famous DiGi tagline “Always be with you”, somehow this applies like butter on bread. Imagine staying connected 24/7 back in the 80s’ compared to now. Nice leapt in technology, don’t you think so?

And finally, the number one reason that helps us stay connected nowadays: INTERNET.  As a project called ARPANET by the US military, it grew into something larger than what was before. good thing too, because now we can connect with others like us worldwide. I’m emphasizing “like us” for a few known reason, but mainly because everyone is different. No two people, lookalikes as they are, have the same habit or act the same way as  the other one. To connect, we needed something else, an attribute shared with some people around the world: affinity. For example, I’m more inclined to people with interest in anthro, to name a few other than photography and the likes.

So, to make this straight, we have to embrace this ever-growing community of online-goers. Either that, or be left behind in a world that’s heading to a better future.
