Tag Archive: Facebook

-You can tag friends.

-You know they have been somewhere without you, and probably go there again without you.

-You can see all the beautiful/ugly/silly/weird/horrifying/truthful pictures about your friends (or others for the matter)

-You can’t sleep early at night because of all the applications (FARMVILLE!!!)

-You can say crap about others and later get caught red-handed bad mouthing him/her because even if they’re not your friend, one of your friend (a chatterbox maybe) is friends with him/her (<.<)’

-You know the Internet has grown extremely big because of all the influx on info in Facebook.

Please leave a comment if you want me to add some more! =P

I don’t want to criticize people for no reason, but she just gave me one.

Nice eh? Because she just made a lot of  Facebooker angry. Not just the average FBers, but muslim Facebookers.

I’m no Muslim, oh no, but I can feel the hatred from the message conveyed. What she said have some truth in it, yet does it justify labeling their Prophet Muhammad “Babi Muhammad”? Does she have any idea just how many Muslims use Facebook, just here in Malaysia? What about around the world?

This matter of God in English=Allah in BM should be left to the higher-ups to sort out. Those people in the news (the ones burning churches and causing reason for religious dissent) will get what they deserve in due time. As not just law-abiding citizens, but also as faithful followers of God, we should be aware of the consequences in our action, as sometimes only a single word can make or break a country’s harmonies nature.

As for Lynette Lincoln, if you’re reading this, here’s on your new-found fame: congratulations. Congratulations on making the no.1 spot of “Most Hated Facebooker in the World”. Hani Tarmizi manage to bring out the “animal” in us Sarawakians, but you brought the gigantic hammer of anger from all Muslims who might’ve read your post. For that, I can only say good luck on surviving your hate-mail fan base. You’re gonna need all the faith you can get.

Advancement in technology allows for many things nowadays. So true, that it dwarfs even the giants of connecting we know nowadays.

Take for example the radio. Since its conception, its users grow on a small but steady rate. This goes on for the television and so forth. But we’re watching something exponential here. Newer advancement in technology gets embraced faster than the old ones. In a sense, we are growing in-sync with technology. Gone are the days when we sit around the radio and television, and comes a new age of mobile connection in the form of computers (now laptops) and recently, mobile phones.

Companies based on this advancement are sprouting like mushroom after the rain. For example, ABC, FOX, and NBC have been around for a combined year of 100+, with an average user of 50 billion people wordwide yearly. YouTube, Facebook, and MySpace on the other hand, have been around for less than a decade total, and gained on average 100 billion user yearly! Impressive numbers, eh?

Mobility in technology helped this growth in some way. For example, telecommunication companies here in Malaysia have approved support for 3G , and just recently broadband license, for aiding people to stay connected. Like the famous DiGi tagline “Always be with you”, somehow this applies like butter on bread. Imagine staying connected 24/7 back in the 80s’ compared to now. Nice leapt in technology, don’t you think so?

And finally, the number one reason that helps us stay connected nowadays: INTERNET.  As a project called ARPANET by the US military, it grew into something larger than what was before. good thing too, because now we can connect with others like us worldwide. I’m emphasizing “like us” for a few known reason, but mainly because everyone is different. No two people, lookalikes as they are, have the same habit or act the same way as  the other one. To connect, we needed something else, an attribute shared with some people around the world: affinity. For example, I’m more inclined to people with interest in anthro, to name a few other than photography and the likes.

So, to make this straight, we have to embrace this ever-growing community of online-goers. Either that, or be left behind in a world that’s heading to a better future.
